Such a Mess I'm In

Welcome to my blog, amigos. I am going to try really hard to keep you coming back. The inspiration behind This Beautiful Mess mainly stems from my need to grow my talents (and a country song that's dear to my heart, to say the least). I'm not presumptuously saying that writing is my talent, but I can at least try. Most of my daily will power is forked out to my two little ankle-biters, so there's gotta be something that I can do selfishly on my own: writing.

Since hitting my 30-year-old milestone earlier this year, I did some soul searching and came up with a list...a list that is filled with goals to seek out old things that I once loved doing, along with intentions for self improvement. Here are a few of them in no particular order:
  • Reclaim my passion for language--study up. (Because using toddler vocabulary every day ain't gonna take me hostage for the rest of my life.)
  • Reserve time for reading. (Finishing a book after a year is downright pathetic.)
  • Memorize a hearty and delicious bread recipe and make a loaf of it at least once a week.
  • Hike the mighty Appalachian Trail. (or at least the VT/NH section)
  • One word: Lasik. (This one may take awhile.)
  • Take a photography class and buy a wicked cool lens.
  • Memorize the lyrics to Vanilla Ice's "Ice Ice Baby" in full. (I wish more attention was devoted to this matter during high school.)
  • Vacation on an island in the tropics--I don't care which one, just as long as I get to wear a swimsuit all day and hike around rain forests.
  • Become more familiar with my ancestors; read up on my family history.
  • Find enjoyment in writing again = blog more.
Writing for fun again is my next big project. Am I at a midlife crisis already? I don't know. I was never scared of turning thirty. It was quite the opposite, actually.  As much as I find importance in documenting the life of my family, I am excited to share stories and explore my writing with the ones I love and trust: YOU.

New England, here I come.
